Tehran Coin Museum is now located in a building next to the Central Branch of Sepah Bank (the first Iranian bank). It is home to twenty thousand coins some of which are 2700 years old! The collection gives us the chance to travel to the ancient times, get acquainted with Persian dynasties and their ups and downs, and move through the time to the present day. The coins will help us know more about the Persian civilization, culture, rulers, and a lot more. This collection was gathered together over ten years and was first exhibited publically in 1960s. As the museum is held in Sepah Bank’s building and one of its founders was Mr. Aghevli, the manager of the bank in that time, a model of the old bank is also reconstructed in a part of the museum which we will visit.
