In this tour, you will visit a complex of palaces used by the last two Persian dynasties, that is, the Qajar and Pahlavi. In addition to the remaining objects of the palaces, the work of some outstanding Iranian artists such as Mr. Farshchian (paintings), Mr. Mir Emad (calligraphies), and Mr. Behzad (miniatures) are displayed in the museums. As the complex is situated on the slope of Tochal Mount, there is a noticeable level change moving from south of the complex to the north where the Green Palace and the Omidvar Brothers’ Museum are located. We can walk or take one of those vans available within the complex to go to the northern part of the complex. There are more than fifteen museums available in this complex and we will visit some of them.
Entering the complex from Zaferaniyeh entrance, we will first visit the White House or the Nations Museum. The palace was built under the order of Reza Shah of Pahlavi Dynasty between 1931 and 1936. It is the largest palace of the whole complex and the last shah of Iran used to live in it during the summer. In this museum, you can see paintings by Master Hossein Behzad, precious carpets, a desk of Marie Antoinette (the former queen of France) etc.
A few steps away is located the museum of Master Mahmood Farshchian. This palace was once used by the fourth wife of Reza Shah as a dwelling, but now it’s home to almost 70 marvelous paintings painted by Mr. Farshchian.
Then, we will walk towards the north to visit the Green Palace where Reza Shah used to live during the summer. The objects of the palace are displayed as they were placed at the time of Reza Shah. There, you can see hand-woven carpets, inlaid furniture, porcelain dishes etc.
There are much more to visit in this complex, depending on your time, the tour guide can take you to some other palaces.
(Depending on the time of the day/year and the weather conditions, the tour guide may change the order of activities.)
