Overview

Throughout history, Persian potters have been innovators, developing techniques like glazing, firing, and wheel-throwing to create both functional and decorative pieces. Traditional Persian pottery often features geometric patterns, floral motifs, and stunning calligraphy, inspired by nature, spirituality, and Islamic art. The unique blue and turquoise hues, iconic in Persian ceramics, are synonymous with this ancient craft, though a range of colors and techniques are used today.

In modern-day Iran, pottery remains an important part of the artistic landscape, blending centuries-old traditions with contemporary styles. Workshops and pottery cafes in cities like Tehran offer visitors a hands-on opportunity to experience this beautiful art form. Whether hand-molding intricate designs or throwing clay on a potter`s wheel, the process of creating pottery in Iran is not only about crafting a functional object but about connecting with a deep cultural legacy.
