However, almost one hundred years ago, extra buildings were added to the first structure to turn it into a real prison. Today, all parts of this complex are used as different parts of the museum and each room has a long story to tell us. Many of the famous figures of Persia/Iran were imprisoned in this palace and few people were able to escape from the prison. People like Bozorg Alavi (a notable Iranian author) have written books about their imprisonment in this palace. Ken Follett (a British author) has also written the story of two American prisoners who escaped from this prison. In this complex, you can also find the oldest Iranian Café, called Loghanteh.
