The city of Hamedan is the capital of Hamedan province, which was built during the time of the Medes, and at that time, it was known as Hegmataneh and was considered the capital of Iran. In fact, Hamedan is the capital of Iran`s civilization and history. Also, the city was one of the country's capitals during the Achaemenid, Ashkan, Sassanian, Al-Buye, and Seljuk periods. For this reason, it has particular importance, and many tourists visit this city every year.
After picking you up from your accommodation, we will drive to Hamedan. Our first visit will be Inscription and Ganjnameh waterfall. Ganjnameh consists of two inscriptions engraved on a vertical mountainside at Abbas Abad Valley. The inscriptions belong to Darius the Great and his son Xerxes the Great. This trilingual inscription helped linguists to discover the Old Persian alphabet and translate the famous Bisotun inscription by Darius the Great in Kermanshah.
Then, we will visit the Hegmataneh museum and its historical site. The oldest capital city of Persia, Hegmataneh is an ancient place where archaeologists discovered palaces, mansions, and other historical monuments related to the Median and Achaemenid periods. According to the historical theory of Herodotus, the Greek historian, the Medes, used this royal complex in approximately 800 BC.

Finally, we will have a look at Baba Tahir Mausoleum. An 11th-century Persian dervish poet from Hamadan who lived during the reign of Tugril of the Seljuk dynasty over Iran.
