If you want to rest from the busy and crowded city of Tehran for a day, you have made the right choice! Shahrestanak is a village on the picturesque Chaloos Road. This calm and quiet village is almost two hours away from Tehran (from Azadi Square, of course) and gives you the opportunity to enjoy both nature and history. The unique climate of Shahrestanak charmed Naser al-Din of Qajar dynasty to order his architect to design and build a palace for him to pass the warm summers of Tehran in a mountainous village. In this tour, we will visit the village and walk in its narrow pathways taking us through the orchards, will visit the remains of the Qajar palace, and will take lots of photos. It should also be noted that, taking the new North Highway, we will be in Shahrestanak in almost an hour, but we will lose the chance of visiting the charming sceneries of Chaloos Road!
We can take this tour almost every day. And, we should start it early in the morning at about 7:00. It should also be noted that this village was used by the king of Qajar dynasty in summer meaning that it can be cold in autumn and winter. Nonetheless, the beautiful nature of the village is even more amazing during these two seasons.
Leaving Tehran behind and passing through Tehran – Karaj Highway, we will arrive in Chaloos Road. This wonderful mountainous road will take us to our destination moving along Karaj River and Dam, going through several twists, turns, and tunnels, and revealing the power of the Creator. The story of the construction of the road is very interesting and will take you to a century ago. At our destination, we will first have a walk in the village, may have a short chat with the locals, will find a good place to sit/camp (depending on weather conditions), will have a picnic lunch and will enjoy the nature. We will also go to visit the remains of Nasseri Palace and will listen to the story of his stays in this palace. Additionally, we can buy some dried herbs (used as medication) and dried fruits such as white berries, prunes, etc. from the locals. Late in the afternoon, we will drive back to Tehran.
(Depending on the time of the day/year and the weather conditions, the tour guide may change the order of the visits.)
Tour will start at 8:00 AM
Note: Best time to visit this place is from Mid-May till November
