There are signs of human habitation in the Qazvin region in the fourth and fifth millennia BC. Some sources state that Qazvin was part of the territory of the Medes. However, the history of the construction of Qazvin city goes back to the Sassanid era and the time of Shapur Zulaktaf. At that time, Qazvin had a military position, but over time it expanded and the core of Qazvin city was formed.
Qazvin was the capital of Iran for a while during the Safavid period. A city where Sepah Street, the first modern street of Iran, stands out in its center.
Sarayeh Saad al-Sultaneh, located in the center of Qazvin city, is the largest urban caravanserai in Iran, which has become a tourist attraction as well as a shopping market after renovation and restoration.
